Cubs' signature offering, the POETRAIT, consists of a unique single line drawing, also known as a blind contour, on an 18" x 24" canvas. Colors for each painting are chosen intuitively during the process, inspired by the energy of the exchange. Cubs' newest offering, FREE THERAPY, is a "performative" experience that unfolds inside of a loose structure, influence both by the space and Cubs' exchanges with the audience members who come forward to receive poems by offering their own word or topic to serve as the starting point. Cubs then confers with his band - usually bass, trumpet, and keys - and they embark on an improvisational set, further informing the poem that flows from Cubs' fingers, the tapping and dinging of the typewriter its own element in the muscial compositon. The poem is then read aloud with a musical backdrop, with Cubs adding his own interpretations along the way. These shows lend themselves to locations both intimate and expansive, having already performed in New Orleans at Columns Hotel, The Tell Me Bar, Preservation Hall, Peter & Paul Church, and Mr Wolf Espresso Bar, as well as at the 2023 Bonaroo Music Festival and UK's Serendipity Dance Festival.
